| Story - Prologue:
My name is Scott, and I moved from Colorado to south Europe this past winter after my time at Horizon 2012. I moved out here because I don't have to deal with the crap laws in the United States about Illegal cars and Speed limits. So I sold all of the cars I had built in Colorado and with money I got from that, moved over. There was a problem however. I didn't speak French or Italian, and most of my money was gone. Also, the USD isn't much compared to a Euro, so my $20,000 was more like 17,000 Euros. That was enough, however, to get me a car and hold me off till I got my job at a garage called Yama no Kage. It is a Performance and Paint shop that has a few other locations, even in the U.S. Well, now that I'm all settled in, it's time to register in the Horizon festival with my Skyline R32. I'll keep a record of runs and lap times. Looking forward to this year and all that it offers!
- Petrichor, Reborn:
Last time, I mentioned I picked up a Skyline after I moved to Italy. I have spent my entire first paycheck on her. You would be really surprised at how cheap car parts can be over here. She's now producing a nauseating 490 bhp to all 4 wheels! There was an R32 I saw in Japan a year ago that got scrapped, named "Petrichor", which translates roughly to 'Blood of stone' in latin roots. I found that a proper name for the car, so I'm going to carry on the name, and badge mine with the same name. Also, I managed to find a performance garage in Nice called Yama no Kage. They tune, paint, and build cars for comps. and sell. They have a competition Honda EG hatch that looked amazing... Im now thinking of finding a EK9 for racing. I'll see what I can find.
- Settling Down:
So, after a few weeks of crashing on a friends couch, I have finally found my own place in Montellino, which is good because its just a few miles from my work down in Castelletto. It's not too bad, it has a 1 car garage, 2 bedrooms, a driveway, close to town and a decent view. The one car garage is a bit of a problem however, as I have picked up one of Yama no Kage's old track Civics. Its an EK9 Type-R. And I'm pretty sure I found a few rats in the pantry, well I heard them anyway. That's beside the point. Back to the EK9, I picked up this gem just last week. My boss saw me eyeing her and said "Looks good, doesn't she?". Obviously!? Of course I can't just out-right fangirl over it right there, so I put my poker-face on and played it off. next thing you know, he tells me that it's retired, and they are looking to sell it. I asked "how much?", and he replied "30% of what we build her for." For a complete race car, with a Professional grade rally engine, cage and suspension, that's 21,000 Euros. And since I had been working there for a bit, he cut me a discount. who wouldn't take that? Now I have a gorgeous track car that I will hopefully get a few extra euros in my pocket. Wow, coming from the states and having to switch over to Euros is kind of weird. Anyway, I did get a few Pictures of her the other day, so enjoy!
- The Lost Chapter:
So due to people still getting settled from the states, they have decided to ppostpone the Horizon Festival. I guess I have a little bit of time to get to know the locals and get to work at the shop.
- Rally maybe?:
So I was feeling a little nostalgic from my days in Colorado and decided to buy an EVO VI from the junkyard just outside Nicé. She's not the prettiest old girl but with a little work and an engine, I'm sure she'll turn out well. I have a few friends that moved to France from Colorado that own a shop so I'm going to get in touch with them and see about doing restoration work.
- The Evolution:
Its been about a week since I pulled the Lancer from the scrapyard. I had to order a complete Evo GSR body kit with new glass, fenders, quarter panels , Evo BBS rally rims, and a new 4G63-T. And after that week of restoration, I'm pretty happy at how she turned out. I decided to keep the manufacturer white, but I couldn't find white fog light covers so I used black ones. Also, to keep with the white, I plasti-dipped my rims white. Dropped it on springs and semi stripped it. Its fun to hoon around in, especially when my ass is sitting right next to a cliff Just driving around, I saw some breath taking sights that I haven't seen since I've moved here. I don't know why it took me this long to explore Italy. I'm definitely looking to just cruse with a few people later in the week. I'm going to check out a few meets later and try to meet a few new people!
- King of Europe Drift Tour:
So this past weekend, the King of Europe Drift Tour came through Castelletto. I saw some insane drift cars, everything from 500hp LS swapped 240s to 600hp M3 and 5s, and a few 1000hp 'Stangs. One that really stood out to me was a 700 horse LS S15. Even when it started to rain a little bit, the S15 kept on like it was dry. I remember back a few months before I moved, I got bought a 1000hp Viper, and I remember taking the TCS off once, and damn near wrapped it on a light pole. The most we ever did in Colorado was drag race on the highway, so I never got to into drifting. Maybe I could try with that EVO in my Garage. I'll have to do some research on RWD swaps for Mitsubishi's. Well I just got paid so that might be a possibility in the next week
- Drift Skool:
Yesterday, I talked to my co-worker at the shop, Jeff, about getting into drifting. He was a little dickish about it at first, laughing at the idea of me drifting, then be came a bit more supporting. He went and got the keys for the LSX swapped BMW we have at the shop. He pulled it out of the garage and told me to get in. We were going somewhere in a 700hp Beamer and he wouldn't tell me where. I'm assuming a place that has to do with drifting? He said it's not that far, just a few miles up the road. And when we were about halfway there, he asked me, "You wanna learn how to drift?" Ahh, thats what I thought we were going to do lol, but were was he taking us? I don't know anyplace that's open enough to teach someone how to drift. "We're here!" Of course! the warehouse complex... Why didn't I think of this place? Wait, are we even supposed to be here? He said, "I don't see why not, this place is abandoned half the time." lol Fine with me! We pulled up to a warehouse with a open ledge that gave a good line to practice. He went first He came in with such angle, I thought we were going to spin the entire time. But he held it without a problem, almost like he was one with the car. We came to a stop, and he got out and told me to try it, and I would be lying if I said I wasn't a little bit nervous, I have never been actual legit drifting, only either losing traction in the GT-R or peeling out in the Supra or Viper back in the States. So I went and gave it a try. I came in at 45-50 in 3rd and gave it a flick with a dab of e-brake, then right back on the throttle with counter steer... Instantly I spun. He said to just keep trying it, so again and again, trying different things, like less throttle or more clutch, or even different entries. Each time, oversteering into hell. I did try something, I don't remember what it was, but I got to the end of the line, and then spun, but it was the best run by far! Again and Again I kept trying, eventually I got so frustrated, I came in too fast and carelessly and went too wide... I slammed the tail into a concrete pillar.. I just wrecked a $70,000 Drift car.. The only thing I could think at the time is, "My boss is going to kill me". I limped the car back to Jeff, to help me figure out what to do. It was bad. When I got out of the car, he was smiling. What does he have up his sleeve? He popped the trunk, and there were a shit ton of parts in there, Control arms, Struts, Half shafts, and a lot of zip ties. so we got to work. In about 30 minutes, the Half shaft was put in with a replacement coilover, and we re-aligned it, and it was good as new... ish. Somehow the rim survived. I gave it one last try, I came in, in 3rd, pulled the e-brake, and counter steered. The back end come out and I felt in control for once. That felt amazing! Jeff was happy for me, but in that impatient way. I wanted to go and celebrate, but drifting around took a few hours and we had to get back to the shop. On the way back I couldn't stop smiling. I cant wait to start drifting my Evo! I need that RWD swap fast!
- Wait! What's That!?:
So a few nights ago, I was doing some research online about RWD swaps and how well they handle the extra stress and pricing and I didn't like what I found. On top of that, I was also reading into EVO power outputs, and the engines are quite expensive to get any power out of, so I'm thinking of letting her go to fund my next project, but I haven't found one yet. Maybe I'll go look tomorrow. ~Next Day~ So my co-worker, Jeff, picked me up in his Ford Escort and we're going to go try to find a nice project. We started in Castelletto and went to Nice, to look in all the used dealerships. Unfortunately, nothing. So we turned our eyes to the local car scene, expecting a few options but everyone was only selling Civics and Golfs. I did find someone who was selling a 98 Supra mk IV, but the price he wanted was way too much. So all of that was a bust, however, one of those guys said the best places to find projects, are in peoples back yards, and that Sisteron, all the way to San Giovanni we full of them. So with that, we left Nice and headed north. It was about 11 or so by the time we got into Sisteron. We started our search and immediately we understood what they meant. Broken down car here, neglected car there. The only problem is, there wasn't anything good. After another hour or two of looking around, we found ourselves just outside of Sisteron and thats when I saw it, sitting in plain sight in a junkyard. An old JDM Drift Missile! An S13 I think. We passed it so quick, I couldn't get too good of a look. I asked Jeff to turn around as quick as he could. We pulled up, and there it was, It was an American RPS13, or a 240sx. After I took that Picture, I got my translator out in preparation that the owner doesn't speak any English. I went inside and the guy greeted me in French, I replied with the translator, but then he said "not to use that" in English. What a lucky break! I found a sweet car and the owner spoke english! So I advocated my interest and we started to talk about the car. Turns out this guy was a renowned Drifter in the states and this was his practice car that he exported with him. He had SR swapped it and put race-spec coils on it. It's beautiful. He said he doesn't drift anymore cause he has a family to take care of and needed to set priorities. So, he wants her to go to a good home, and not sit outside, unused anymore. After that heartfelt story, we made a deal any we went to go fire her up. Amazing, after sitting for some odd years, she only needed a few turns to fire right up. I got in to get a feel for her. It's nice. The height reminds me of the Supra I had back west, and the sound too. I got out and thanked the guy for this amazing car and he said, and I'll never forget this because I saw a little bit of a tear come to his eye, "take of the old girl, she's seen too much to life a short life." Of course! And I thanked him again and headed out with Jeff in front. She drove like a dream, Incredibly balanced and smooth. I can't wait to see where I will go with this car. Today was an amazing day... I think I'm going to name her... Lily.
- Refabrication:
Got all of my engine and suspension parts yesterday, and got 'em installed and tuned today! The SR is now making a steady 500bhp So after work, when the roads are quiet, I took her out for a... "Test Drive" I was having so much fun, the night flew by! As the roads awoke, I headed back to the shop. When I got back, I decided to wash the car, and in the middle of it, a UPS truck came up with the new widebody panels I ordered a few days ago. I finished washing the 240 and then put the new panels on. I have to say, they look pretty good! Just ordered A new Ings Kit, so that should be here in a few days. I am also looking at a 2013 GT86 as well with no engine, so that should be a fun build. I've always wanted one in the states, but it's an arm and a leg to get anything imported. I'll update when I go and look at it.
- Yota:
Got to look at a GT86 that came through the port today. The guy and imported it, when he moved from Japan then realized he had nowhere to keep it, so he need it gone. The car didn't have an engine, which was perfect for me because I was going to swap anyway. I met up with the guy and we talked for quite a bit about cars and my Skyline. He said he had an old R33 as well as a Hakosuka back in Japan. We eventually got to the car and haggled for a bit, and landed at $10,800. I wrote up a check, and he handed me the title. Afterwards, we unloaded the car out of the shipping container to get it ready for the tow truck. After we got the car loaded onto the truck, I gave the guy my number in case he came across any other original JDM sweetness he needed to sell. And with that, I headed back to the garage with a tow truck in tow. When we got to the garage, it had been quite a few hours and the sun was starting to set. We unloaded the car and were about to push it into the garage. I've got quite a few plans for her based on Ken Gushi's Formula Drift car, so we'll see how that goes. I just have to wait for payday. In the mean time, if anyone knows where to find a 2JZ-GTE,Let me know
- Cars, Parts and Projects:
So I placed an order for a RocketBunny V1 kit on the 86. While I wait for that, I may as well start on re-painting my 240. We sanded her down besides the hood and healight covers and primed her up Going back into the booth and try a Black and Red. We'll see. Ok, out of the booth and she turned out really well! I also plastidipped the BBSs white. I'm happy with the end result. Now I need to find a drift group. I heard one of my friends from Colorado will be getting into town soon, and he was big with the drift/drag scene, so I'll be looking forward to that:)
- How'd They Know!?:
So, I got home late tonight due to an unexpected difficulty on a Skyline at work; got out the cup of noodle and got on the internet. I saw a message in my email with a link saying, "Dude! Check this out!" It was a link to an underground racing page, with drivers, stats, cars, and even popularity. And what's even the point of this? Isn't that what Horizon is for? Well regardless, I continued browsing the main news feed, and saw a snapshot of my EK9 when I got in a little street race against an R34. People where going ballistic over it and wanted more, I even saw a few Company Profiles like HKS and Tanabe say they were looking to sponsor. I thought this was unreal. So I made an account, and claimed the EK9 as mine. Also put a few pictures of her up as proof. I instantly got a few dozen challenges against the EK and I was excited about 'em This seems like a great way to make some serious cash, as well as my Drift-Bunny being almost done. I got the Widebody Kit, wheels, wheel spacers and 2JZ in today, and they are already installed onto and in the car. Now a re-paint. I'm thinking, Red. Turned out well, and I went for a drive to try the engine. She drives like a dream! And with all that done, I slapped a Hoonigan sticker on the back And headed home.
- Initial Tofu!:
There was another round of auctions that went up last weekend, and I saw a Toyota AE86 rooling shell up for $2,400. I put my bid up, but I forgot about it and lost the auction to a guy who goes by "Stanced". Kind of a cool nickname:) Anyway, I sent him an e-mail saying I want that 86 and I'd give him 3g's. He happily agreed because he'd be flipping a car for $600 by doing nothing haha. I met up with him at the auction site near the docks to look over the car and do paperwork. She is a beauty though! After I wrote a check for 3 grand, I loaded up the car on the tow truck and drove her back to the shop When we got it into the shop, I put my RB26 into it after a quick tune up and repainted all the mis-colored the body panels back to white. I did however leave the rusted fender on, and clear coated it. After that, she was looking pretty. The RB26 made a shit ton of power, 499 whp specifically. It made so much power infact, I actually blew my transmission haha, So I put a few orders in and got a new differential, tranny, clutch, driveline and did all of my suspension too. Then I put my old HREs on, but i plasti-dipped em black I kept it like that for a while, and did a few more street races I ordered and installed an origin kit. I am really happy with the result. A while ago, I talked about that Underground Racing site that I was drifted onto, well word got out about my new Tofu Drifter, and it pulled the attention of HKS. I got an email a few days later from them asking if I wanted to become a sponsored driver for their drift team. I figured why the hell not! Comped parts and getting payed to drift! What's not to love! They hooked me up with a carbon fiber Hood and light covers, and even got in contact with the Stop Motion Media guys again to set up a photoshoot of my 86 for an article in their mag. This was the result: I love this car already <3
- Catching up:
So it has been a long time since I've been back in Europe. I forgot to mention, last time, that I was going to the states to visit family. That all went well. Now that I'm back in Europe, I had to see who was who again in the car scene. I quickly noticed a guy with a BMW M3, who goes by Hampa. He talked pretty big and looked like he was in love with his car, always making comments about "her angel eyes" lol, and so I check my inbox, and noticed a pm from that very same guy saying he wants to run The Regretful Climb with his Beamer. I chuckled and replied that I just got back into town and that I was down! A week later we had our race. To no surprise, the EK won. He was a little shocked and I told him I had an SR 240 that was a bit quicker. I let him drive it for a little bit, and then he offered to buy it. And so he did. Then a few days later, he told me he was in the market for a 2JZ swapped GT86, again, I said that I had one and I'd sell it as I haven't driven her in a long long time. since Hampa had just spend all of his money on the 240, he offered a trade, his E36 and a 190E for the GT86. I thought, why not. So with that, both the 240 and the Drift Bunny were gone and I had two german cars, which I sold to the scrapyard.
- Moving:
When I was in the states, YnK was doing really well, and the company expanded into France. my boss said he needed someone to manage the garage over in Sisteron. I gladly volunteered for the job. I got a little pay raise and a little better house! I got in the 86 and headed over to see what the new shop offered. I like it so far, I parked the car and had a look inside The place had a pretty big parking lot as well. I'm excited to work here:)
- An Old Friend:
Just to let everyone know, it's a pain in the ass to daily a racecar or drift car! Don't get me wrong, having a daily that can go fast or can drift is good, but dailying a car purpose built for it is a disaster! So when I was hitting up the Touge section in Castelletto with Hampa and that 86 guy that I sold Petrichor to, I found out he still had her. I was talking about, well, complaining about needing a new daily. He said the 32 had been sitting outside under a trap for a few months while hes been trying to sell it. I immediately wanted her back! I had saved up quite a bit of money since my cars were done, and I wrote out a check for 10g's and towed her back to the new shop. I ordered an RB replacement engine from Japan and it was here in a matter of days. I shoved it in the car and gave her a wash and I was on my way! I'm so happy to have her back, and OEM as ever:)
- Look! A Chevy! A Ford! a, Subaru!?:
I was derpin' around on Craigslist a few nights ago and I saw something weird, that I've never seen before. They called it a Subaru BRAT, I thought it looked more like a short Elcamino lol. I've always wanted a little drift truck though. I imagined it to be a slammed Mazda Pickup with a 20b TT under the hood, but this might work out better. I did a little research on this truck, car thing and it's awd with a primitive Boxer engine, but I think I could make this work. I called the guy and scheduled a meet up. When I saw the car, it was in great shape, and promising. The guy was only asking $3,000 for it. That was a steal! I wrote out a check and hoped in. I was thinking of what I could do to it. I'm thinking I will throw a modern Boxer into it and RWD swap it. I ordered the parts, found an engine for cheap, and proceeded on. I'm not gonna lie, it turned out really well! Just a few more parts and it was perfect! I ordered a pair of Anti-roll bars and new wheels and striped the thing. I took the side decals off as well due to it not being a 4WD anymore haha. Now it slid around so much better. This is by far the cheapest drift build I've ever had! The whole thing only cost me $12,000 and the truck is solid!
- Race Day:
Now, the Horizon Festival is kicking off and the EK9 is ready! I got her registered in the Hot Hatch division, got my number plates and put them on the car. Now I'm ready to race! I pull up to the line, there are quite a few nice looking rides here at the festival. The light ticks off and all of the cars ahead of me are lost in a mist of burnt tires and roaring engines. The first few corners were ok, the only bad one was the very first because of first corner carnage, but I ran around the track, over taking a few guys. I even had to dodge flying bumpers I won a few more heats, by the end of three races, I was sitting at 4th place overall. The 4th race was going well like the others, until I blew a coolant hose. So I was a DNF for that race bumping me down to 7th overall. There were 4 more races in the series, so I had to adverage 2nd for all of em. The next day, the sky opened up and there were was a few more crashes then the day before. I found out though, that my EK handles way better in the rain! I came in 2nd, and 1st. We moved on to the coast, and the sky cleared up a lot. And just like that, the heats were over for Hot Hatches, I mannaged to place podium, I got 2nd overal. Now there's nothing to do until the next heats which are in a month or so. I'm proud of my little honda:) She's come a long way.

| I know, by far one of the best car selections since maybe forza 3! And the Ek is my race car ftw! If you get an ek, you HAVE to drop the rally turbo in it! | |

| Story time! - Petrichor, Reborn:
Last time, I mentioned I picked up a Skyline after I moved to Italy. I have spent my entire first paycheck on her. You would be really suprised at how cheap car parts can be over here. Also, I mannaged to find a performance garage in Nice called Yama no Kage. They tune, paint, andad's build cars for comps. and sell. They have a competition Honda EG hatch thag looked amazing... Im now thinking of finding a EK9 Fofor racing. I'll see what I can find.

| Story time!

| New Chapter added - Rally maybe?:
So I was feeling a little nestalgic from my days in Colorado and decided to buy an EVO VI from the junkyard just outside Nicé. She's not the prettiest old girl but with a little work and an engine, I'm sure she'll turn out well. I have a few friends that moved to France from Colorado that own a shop so I'm going to get in touch with them and see about doing restoration work.
