| Part One:- Spoiler:
Feels like it was only yesterday my good friend Fubar asked me if I'd like to join him and Core Concepts on their European adventure as an apprentice... In case you haven't realized already I said yes, its a fresh start for me and a new chapter in my life. I arrived before him as he had a few last things to finish up back home before coming out here. I was fresh off the ferry in Calais, ready to start my new job and find a place to live and most importantly look for a car to call my own. There wasnt a lot of places open at 3am but I eventually came across a rental company just outside the port, there wasn't much to chose from but I decided to take the most practical vehicle they had. A 2011 Ford Transit. The work horse of Britain, its also something I was familiar with from my previous job. So I loaded up and hit the road in search of a new home! (All be it behind schedule after waiting for the paperwork on my Visa to clear!) Part Two - Spoiler:
So after around 6 hrs of solid driving I pulled over at a local café just in time for lunch and started looking for a house to buy or rent. After an hour or so I came across a nice looking house in a very quiet area just north of San Giovanni. It was only about an hour drive from where I was so I'd booked a viewing for the evening. Also whilst I had access to the internet and a computer I started looking for a car, and a particular car at that. So I was looking for a clean GTR32 for a while and came across a clean example that was freshly imported from Japan to Nice, Southern France. By the time I paid for the var and various other costs I was 13 grand in to it, which is actually a fair price, especially considering it had a pair of Nismo differentials in the front and rear. Part Three:- Spoiler:
I decided to have a few hours sleep in the back of the van before driving to view the house in the evening, which didn't go to plan. I aimed to get around 4hrs sleep but due to my excitement I only got about 1 and a half hours. But I started my drive to the house to make it in time for the viewing. Unfortunately a storm had brewed whilst I was traveling and the heavens opened! But I still made it. Anyway I managed to arrange a rental agreement for now on the house. If I like I'll buy it, otherwise I'll look for a new pad. Part Four:- Spoiler:
So today's the day I pick my car up but before I do anything I need to unload the rental van before dropping it off back at the port when I collect my car. Eventually I was on my way to the port, fueled with excitement! I arrived at the port on foot since I had to drop rental van off but after walking into the port the first thing I saw was my new pride and joy reversing out of the container!! I was like a kid at Christmas and didn't know what to do so I took some photo's. Anyway I was all set to go back to my home but before leaving the port I had to put some fuel in the car so I "borrowed" a full tank of Shell V-Power and left in the only way you can in a skyline. Foot planted, arse end out! Anyway, surprisingly it didn't take long to get home in it where some coilovers and turbos had been delivered whilst I was out but more of that another time. Here's a quick snap of her on my drive. Well that's how I got to where I am now. Guess I'll be starting my new job at Core Concepts soon! Part Five- Spoiler:
Had a great time since moving here, jobs great, the people who speak English are great, can't understand the locals just yet. Anyway, I went for a walk to blow off some steam, (wife's stressing me out big time!) And was walking along a road just outside the main festival and I saw something BEAUTIFUL!! An S13's ass! Had a better look... Unfortunately I didn't have the cash on me but before I continue here's some history on the car. The retired gentleman who owned the car had owned it since new, he used to live in Cali but when his wife passed he moved out here to start a new chapter in his life and brought his car with him. But he's decided to sell it after getting a large amount of money from the festival organisers for renting his land to them he upped his game a little. And bought a bloody Agera!! Anyway, I met a fella not much older than myself at a car meet a few weeks ago, he was eye balling my R32 and said to me if I know of any classic JDM cars for sale to contact him. So I made a call and told him my car was for sale. He didn't hesitate to buy it and wired the money into my account there and then. So I had to make a trip to the bank to get the money for the new project. A deal was made and I drove her home. However, I did have yet another Jeremy clarkson moment and it went like this... AND So I went to the local JDM importer and he had an engine from a R34 GTR V-Spec II, an RB26-DETT for those who don't know. So after a bit of haggling we agreed on a price. And we had the engine in the car and running the same night. But wasn't enough just yet, then Tiger text me asking if I want to buy my old cams, I said HELL YEAH! and they where at my house by the time I got home. Next thing on my list was lowering the car as it looked like an off roader! So stopped by the local parts store and got the same set of coilovers I had on my Skyline as they where brilliant! Then went to Fubars to fit them with him as he was doing the same on his Scooby. This is the result after a lot of swearing and an awful lot of beer! The next morning I was interrupted during breakfast by a rather loud V8 noise... Looked outside and saw the HRE Wheels delivery truck. It had the wheels for my skyline but I no longer owned the car... Luckily the wheels are the same fitment as what my S13 has! So its all good. This is how she sits with her new shoes. Part Six- Spoiler:
Okay heres a rather large update... Well where do I begin? Roughly a few weeks ago I saw a S13 coupe on an auction site. There was no photos or any information other than it having no engine... So I decided I needed funds for it ASAP so with regret I put her up for sale. Didn't take long for someone to put an offer on along with a MR2 SW20 with no engine. After a little bit of haggling we settled on a price. Now the Buyer was the same guy who bought my R32, TIGER! Anyway I decided to sell the MR2 to Fubar for 3 grand and put a bid on the S13 and a Camaro! After a few days I got a phone call telling me that I had won them and shortly after I received the locations. First car I picked up was the Camaro and decided it was going to be a car to flip for a profit. After putting some money into it I sold it for 17 big ones to some cool ass guy, any guesses on who? For those who said Tiger, well done! But y'all who said someone else, well y'all are fu**ing dumb muthaf**kas. Unfortunately I never had any time to get any photos of the camaro but check her out in Tigers yard. Now heres the bit you all came for, the story of my S13 project! So all I knew was the location and that it had no engine. Here's some photos when I found her and pulled her out ready to be towed back to her new home. First thing I did was get to work on that damn rust! I then set about givng her a machine polish. I also ordered some parts and got Fubar to collect them for me along with the new engine. We got to work putting some parts on her before we fitted the engine in the car. Didn't take long to get the engine in and running sweet! Here's how she looks at the moment. But don't get to familiar with it! I'm also starting to make kits at work which aren't in the catalog just yet so PM me for info and enquires. Part Seven- Spoiler:
Well this will be a rather large update So let's begin! We start at the auctions (I swear I'm addicted) and I put a bid on a fully running evo and got outbid not long after but managed to put another bid in and secured that car! But this was not my only trophy, oh no! I won an AE86 in mint condition other than a hole in the engine block... But I never even got to collect the car as Wolf wanted it straight away! So I sold it to him and he was happy I think. Anyway the evo was only a 5 minute walk away from my house so I walked to pick it up and took the long route home, I loved the car but after scouring the interwebs I realized parts where scarce for that specific model in Europe and someone made me an offer I just couldn't refuse... My old r32 with plenty of toys on her (more than what I sold her with) in exchange for the Evo. I snapped the offer up and grabbed the keys to the old girl from Draco. After getting her home I decided to strip her of the parts and put them with the spares I have. Now this is where it gets interesting! I got yet another car, a Subaru Legacy RS from tiger! You may notice there's no updates on the S13. Well, I'm looking into moving to a new house which has some land and a little unit that I can store cars and parts in and use as a workshop to. And this would be beneficial as the plans I have for the S13 requires somewhere out of the elements and out of sight as she's going away for the rest of 2014 and won't be out till the start of 2015! All I'm going to say is shits about to get real for 2015! Part Eight- Spoiler:
Well this update will be about getting the S13 near completion. I was hoping to get a daily but nothing decent that I liked came up unfortunately, but maybe something in the new year will turn up. Anyway we start off at home. I decided to fit the exhaust I had spare to the S13, and oh my she's sounds brutal! Feels better too! Now it was time to mix up the look of the S13. First up was making her a little wider. I made some front wings at the shop that are about 40mm wider but sit flush with the door so it looks super clean! Also crafted some rear bolt ons, just a simple set, nothing fancy yet and finally I made a custom FRP bootlid with cut outs to vent the rear mount radiator I'll be fitting. But a huge thanks to Fubar at work for letting me use the shop to do this and for helping me make it possible. I then sourced a body kit, an Origin TII hovercraft kit and she looked the nuts! Here's the car before paint, I chucked the stock wheels on for this. By the late afternoon the following day after pulling an all nighter at the shop, this was the result, also picked up a set of wheels whilst the car was in the spray booth at work. Now there's a few more bits to do such as tow straps, radiator and oil cooler. But in the mean time I took her for a road mapping session with Dynamo, this guy knows ECUs and setups very well! After all he did build a MKIV Supra with 1005RWHP... Yeah! Anyway my car will eventually have a design as I aim to use it as a full on drift car but drive it on the streets still. Why? BECAUSE I CAN! THATS WHY! Let's move on... I picked up another 240sx from an island nick named 'Storm Island' due to the adverse weather over there at times, anyway got the car back and RB Swapped it and chucked some coilovers on it then parked her up as I had something a little more interesting to collect... I will do a write up on the 240 at a later date. But whilst I was there I came across a funny looking pick up, it was called a Subaru Brat! The price the owner wanted for it was silly so I bought that mofo! Before I took it home I came across a garage over there that specialized in Scooby's so got them to do me a engine swap, they'd been breaking an 11 plate Subaru STI so I picked the engine up. They had fitted and running the next day. Also picked up an engine for a car I won at auctions! anyway it was time to head home so I loaded the 240 onto a rented trailer and hooked it up to the brat and went home. Here's the brat after coilovers and wheels So the weekend was over, headed back to work to finish off the shop, counting down to my birthday on Wednesday the 14th of January... So my birthday was just a normal day but Fubar and I along with the rest of the lads had a night planned out. To go into town and get as drunk as possible!! Drove down in the S13 for some stupid reason so parked her up. Got to 2am and we'd been kicked out the pub. We where far to gone to even open the car door never mind drive. So we all put money into a taxi and got home safely, with a kebab of course! Woke up the next day with a pretty big hangover which wasn't nice. That's it for now folks. I'll be back soon Part Nine- Spoiler:
Here is the ninth chapter of my time in the European countryside. Well since my last part I've aquired a couple more cars. The first car I picked up was a sweet S15 Spec R from a guy called Kru, the car was in superb condition. I immediately sourced a ings rear bumper to go with the kit he had on it and had it painted and fitted in no time! I'm undecided on what to do with this car as of yet but we'll see what the future holds for it. The next car I picked up was a 1000BHP Supra, it was on its way to the crusher! I couldn't let that happen so I made a deal with the owner and I took it home, and boy was it fast! Anyway I got it back, had my friends at SRD (Supra Racing Developments) back in the UK rebuild the engine and tweak it a little. It now throws down 1469HP @ the wheels on 35PSI of boost! I then thought to myself after looking at her front for a while she needed something to lift it up a bit. So I got on the phone to a guy who knows a guy who knows a guy who can get hold of the infamous RMM front lip for the Supra. And he got me one! And then I blasted her over with some jet black goodness. And boy does it look good! The third car I picked up was for a more practical daily driver at first. It was a 2001 Acura Integra DC2 with the B18C engine. I drove it for about a week or two and thought it was great. Then I wanted more! So I took her to a friends shop, ripped the engine out and ordered a ton of parts! Within a week or two the engine was a fully forged motor, I then turned my attention to the suspension and wheels. It took me 2 weeks to find the right wheels and coilovers for the look I was after but boy was it worth the wait! I mean have a look for yourself. Anyway I wanted another 240sx, and after scouring the countryside I found one, a guy who I'd dealt with in the past had a matte black one for sale for pocket money, so I got the trailer out and went and picked it up immediately! First thing I did was source an SR20 engine and a body kit. I also chose a body kit within a week and sent it for paint. When it came back I was amazed with the final colour, but I knew there was no turning back now, i got my wheels and coilovers fitted but thought to myself it needs to be wider. So I began to make my own kit again whilst the SR20 was being built back at Garage D in the UK. There won't be any photos of this beauty till its finished Now we can get onto the exciting part. Whilst having a vast collection of cars that you do a lot of work on yourself, you are faced with a problem. That problem is space. Now whilst my house house is huge, it doesn't have much land which is the problem. So I decided to go house hunting. In a 1400+WHP Supra! Not the smartest of ideas if I'm honest. Anyway I had two choices. Do I buy an ordinary house and a a unit? Or do I buy a farm type house with out building already on site? I chose the farm so I could keep an eye on my cars and make as much noise as possible with out any d**khead neighbours saying anything. So this is where I chose to move, have a look. There's plenty of photos! Here's the house with my Supra outside. (The trailer to the right was included in the deal.) Here's the rear of the house with a small outbuilding attached to it with a small sheltered area which I'll be using as car ports. Another car port A large parking area (YES THE TRACTORS ARE INCLUDED) Another large parking area. (The truck is mine too) And a medium sized warehouse to store cars and work on them So I brought some cars over but only ones in a road legal state. The S13 Coupe, oh yeah there's another car port next to the house. The S15, I also swapped my spare Work Wheels onto it and removed carbon hood. And the Integra The Clio and S13 hatch would be brought up on a trailer. Anyway I decided to break the teggy in by going on a long ass drive. I ended up near the main festival and noticed a few cool ass cars! The house was the actual place I bought my first 240sx with the same old guy living there. Outside there was three cars... A EK9 with a Spoon Sports built B16 engine. A crash damaged Z And a damaged Trans Am. Legend has it this car was the car Burt Reynolds drove in Smokey And The Bandit. East bound and down brother! Sadly it looks like it was heading East bound into a wall. I asked the guy what'd happened and his response was "Well my Agera didn't last long before the festival wanted to buy it for themselves but I bought an EK9 from the Auctions in Nice and I lost control in the rain. It's not badly damaged but I wouldn't know where to begin for fixing it. The other cars well they've just been left here by some rich Arabs who don't care about them. They have a bump and render the cars totaled when they're the opposite." After a chat I hit the road again and had a brain storm. RACEWARS! Yeah baby! Check it out in the events section! Thats it for now folks! Part Ten- Spoiler:
So another day another chapter. Things where getting stressful around the festival for me so I decided I needed a break. I packed my bags and disappeared to Albufeira in Portugal for 8 nights. On arrival I unpacked and hit the club's straight away. Spent most of my money in one night! Then I just went out every single night. The heat was brutal, but I was actually sad to leave. The following day after arriving home I was just sat around the cars thinking about home. It was great having so much land but wasn't practical with my low cars. So I decided to look for a nice house and a separate warehouse with reasonable access online. I found a few places but was still undecided. But in the mean time someone snapped my S15 up which couldn't of came at a better time as id just picked up an R34. Soon as I received it I had the engine pulled out and sent away to be built to 750 bhp and whilst that was being done I had the car resprayed in a nice yellow colour. I got the engine back and had it fitted and the end result is, well... It goes like shit off a stick! Here she is And the engine, Thought I'd test the launch control on her. YEP THAT WORKS!!! And yes she squats But I also wanted a new car so I got looking. I went to my local toyota dealer and picked this brand new gt86 up. Only had 3 miles on the clocks, I had plans for this! But nothing to mental. Anyway moving on, my main man who got me out here in the first place said he was packing up and leaving. Left me everything! Cars money the lot. Evo 8, E30 M3, R32 GTR, Subaru, 240sx. I was shocked to say the least. But about a week or so later I got a call... "I'm coming back, see you at airport in 4 hours. So I got a move on! So I got ready and had a surprise lined up for him. His Scooby and R32 back. Anyways I picked him up in his car so he could get around for the night and tomorrow. After we where sorted I hired a van and asked Fubar if he wanted to tag along for gathering parts. Ended up going all over the country in search of a body kit and a special engine for the GT86. We eventually found a body kit but still no engine. It was getting late but I got a tip off an import company just took delivery of a container load of engines. So I put my foot to the floor and got myself there. And boy was it worth the drive. 2JZ No shit. Anyway I finally got home and parked van up. The following day me and Fubar decided we needed to have somewhere to work on the cars. Now where core concepts was is not Fubars property anymore, but it had all the ramps and equipment in there. So we headed that way with the van and the gt86. We finally got our way in. Place looked horrendous. Looked like people had been sleeping there. Anyway we unloaded and got to work straight away. By the end of the day the engine was out and coilovers where fitted, along with the parts I bought for the 2J. The next day we got to work machining custom engine and gearbox mounts. We had the engine in by lunch time, them it was time to tackle the Haltech Elite ECU. But still had this piece of art to bolt to it first. Within 2 days it was wired up and ready to be tuned. After I received it back I got Fubar to fit my kit on it and respray the GT86 in a colour I've always liked but never been brave enough to put on a car. Here is the end result of the GT86... She's sexy! Even treated the Evo to some wheels seeing as I'd be daily driving it until it's sold. So that's what's being going on in my life recently. I go to the Canary Islands on the 4th June so next update will be after that. Thanks for reading
