| The Story...
- 20th July, 2015 - Starting Out:
20th July, 2015 - Starting out It's been a while since I was properly engaged in the automotive scene and so I've come to Europe to start all over again and see where the road takes me. I've opened up a ratty old garage with the money I had and decided to look around for a car.
I got in touch with a few guys about any local cars for sale, S-Chassis preferably. I managed to get hold of a neat S13 hatch. She could do with a bit of a clean up but she's running almost perfectly, the previous owner took good care of her.
The plan was always to swap out the KA and I decided I wanted to look for an SR20 motor to replace it with. I saw that Relentless had an SR20 available for sale so I bought that from him for $2,300. I'll be working on that with the boys ASAP.
---
We have the SR20 now so we're going to be mounting that tomorrow and installing a bunch of brand new parts that we bought for her, including new turbo kit, camshaft, race drivetrain parts, etc. Sure have burnt a hole in my pocket that's for sure!
- 21st July, 2015 - Making Progress:
July 21st, 2015 - Making Progress
So all the parts had arrived early morning and we decided we would get to work straight away to try and get the car ready for tonight's meet at 10pm BST. We got some new shoes in to make her easier on the eye and we visited a local garage to get hold of some tyres, they had some NS-2R's in stock so we slapped em on our new Works' ready for when we'd finished the rest of the work.---The boys were finishing up the work on my car. Meanwhile, I decided to check out some of the sweet rides heading out to this meet later on tonight, some really neat builds.Car has been finished up and cleaned and is sitting really nicely at the moment, looking quite fresh too. A lot more work to go but it should be able to run for the time being. Might have to do a few streeto skids with the boys soon!---Back in the garage after the meet, got bored and decided to take the CR Kai's off and give em a respray in white. With hindsight, it probably would have been better to just buy them in this colour as I'm now burning money but whatever. They're good to go now and look clean as f***!I also ordered an Origin Aggressive Line Kit for the S13 hatch and it arrived whilst we were out at the meet tonight, so I got busy with the lads to get the kit fitted onto the S13 and she's now looking real nice. Needs a respray at some point but probably after we've added more aero parts so we can do the whole thing.---Here's how she sits since the new upgrades! Starting to look better now. Might have to start some livery work soon and sort a respray out.
- 22nd July, 2015 - Chilled out day:
22nd July, 2015 - Chilled out day
Today's been quite mellow, we've had some new brake discs and pads installed on the car and also a cage fitted, she's now comp spec and is running quite nicely. Few quick check-ups and she's ready for the meet later, going to be a quiet one today I think.---Did a spot of drifting with the lads at the warehouses earlier on and had some wicked fun, few scrapes and taps no big deal, car feels great. Can't wait to finish the build up and a fresh paint, then start work on the livery.
- 23rd July, 2015 - New daily and some finishing touches:
23rd July, 2015 - New daily and some finishing touchesSo, we wanted to hit more power with the S13 and decided to take a trip to the YardWerks Discount Parts Warehouse to see if we couldn't find a Stroker Kit for our SR20, there was a decent selection and we picked up a HKS Stroker Kit for roughly €2,000. Not too shabby! So we now have a 2.2L SR in our vehicle, we also picked up a few needed upgrades like a new fuel system, new spark plugs, etc. The bigger news is that I've picked up a new daily to use whilst I have the S13 in the paint booth ready for a brand new livery representing my drift team, Counter Style. Might be in there for a couple of weeks as we still want to plan out how we're going to design the livery and then the work actually needs to be done, fingers crossed it turns out well!
- July 24th, 2015 - Few issues...:
July 24th, 2015 - Few issues...
So we couldn't make it to the meet last night due to a few issues with the AE86. It broke down on the way home after running a couple of errands and picking up a few parts, so we got under the bonnet straight away to find the problem and fix it straight up. Of course, the time we spent repairing it meant that we couldn't make it in time for the car meet tonight which is a bummer. But the good news is that she's running as clean as a whistle now and I'll be down with her tonight, mainly to check out some of the local fellas' new whips.
