| How I got my first drift car - Spoiler:
-
So when I began the search for my first drift car I knew I wanted an mx5, something about the pop up headlights. I began by doing some research on forums on what to look for and what to avoid. The biggest thing I found was they like to rust, but they rusted inside out so you only know it's rotten too late. I searched around and couldn't find anything that was rust free or recently been repaired.
So I went direct to Mazda and to se if we could sort something out. After a few meetings with management they agreed to make me a fresh rust free mx5, but would have a few design tweaks to stop it rusting through again and also slightly different front sub frame to accommodate a new bigger engine.

| So the car is back home, can't wait to get started, I have already got parts and mods ready to go, only grabbed a few pics as it was raining, but it did mean I had a cheeky skid.
Pics are uploading now |

| Got the car into the garage and made a start fitting the coilovers, the rears was easy, 3 bolts holding the stock coil in and undo the arb drop link and it feel out. Then simply pop the new one and Jack up the lower wishbone and bolt it all in. I left them set at the height out of the box which looks perfect. Now the fronts was a pain ! Undo it all the same as the rear but then we had to use spring compressors on enough so we could get it out through the top wishbone, once it was out the one fell in just as easy. Quite happy with the stance and being fully adjustable is great. |

| So with the car set up and working I took it too the track to get a tune dialled in. Rolling out of the pits I put a basic a tune and hit the track. After a few laps I went back into the pits and had a chat with another fellow mx5 driver and he gave me some tips, I then went back and changed the tune and hit the track again. O my what a difference. The thing now holds angle and is a smoke machine. Still a little snappy but due to wheel base. |

| Got the car shipped to Daytona to meet up with Arsye for a little skid session. Had an awesome session and his car was making some serious angle. Then into some tandems, my car is quite twitchy but I did my best to stay smooth and the lex was on my door. Having a right blast We then swapped round and a threw my car into the nice big gap left for me from his serouis angle [/URL] |

| Really happy with how the car is atm, a few more tweaks and it will be there.
Will keep it in A class for time/racing
I am looking at New cars for sliding properly, having such a small wheelbase makes for a very fast but snappy car. |

| Having some .ore seat time is really helping now, entered into another comp, this time it wasn't time attack but an autocross. Being small and light this car was perfect for the job.
I had a lot of practice and attempts but my fastest time was very good. I ended up setting a time 25 in the world rankings, and 1st in the MnM class.
With 2 first places in a time attack and a 2nd in drifting this car is heading towards grip and that means along with payday money I am on the hunt for a new drift car ! |
