| Just a heads up, not trying to poop on anyone's hopes and dreams but legislation doesn't get changed because of signatures. I do hope it works out, though. | |

| This is a waste of time, to be perfectly honest. I'm with Addie. People who know me know I love my Skylines, but this is simply and utterly complete bullshit. They will be ready for import and will be legal in 2024, that is all. | |

To be clear, it doesn't get changed because of these kinds of signatures. Online petitions for things like this get overlooked all the time. These are great for use in starting class-action lawsuits against shady companies and the like, but they do jack-all to overturn government ruling. This petition, in theory, needs to see a bunch of different desks before it would even be considered to be brought up under scrutiny to reconsider the ruling that these cars are not road legal. When it's found that the ruling is over something as trivial as car nerds wanting a car to be import legal earlier than is normal, something that can be solved with patience (a lot, I admit) rather than assembling a board to discuss reconsidering it, a paltry online petition is going to be the equivalent of junk mail. Everyone uses the example of the McLaren F1 and its center driver's position. McLaren was able to overturn a rule about seating position so they could make the car road-legal in the US. People forget that McLaren had rich investors and a huge bankroll to help soften people's stance on the matter and prod them into considering it. If this works I will happily write "I was wrong" on my forehead with a Sharpie and post it in this very thread.

People forget that McLaren had rich investors and a huge bankroll to help soften people's stance on the matter and prod them into considering it. Exactly right, Addie. It would be probably a good two to three years IF this even made it to desks that it needed to go to. There's a number of people/organizations that would need to see it. Besides, an online petition isn't a solidified reason to legalize the "earlier importation" of something. If people were wanting to do this properly, they'd need to provide data. Crash test data, EPA data, etc. Things that people more than likely already know, which is why it is illegal(for now) in the first place. Besides, Nissan never actually intended for the Skyline to see American shores as they didn't spend money on "testing" and other things. Something as trivial as an online petition for the early legalization and importation of a vehicle WILL NOT make it very far when it comes to Washington. There are other things that are far more pressing, et cetera. It's good to see a bunch of fellow gearheads try, and I hate to say this, but they will ultimately fail.

| that's not entirely true guys, the vast majority of random Japanese goodness was never sold in the UK. but thanks to the SVA test that's intended for kit cars and small manufacturers that can't afford large scale safety and emissions tests (among others) we can just about import what we like as long as we don't mind jumping through a few hoops to pass | |

| only 100 r34's were officially sold in the UK, so it's almost certain every time I see one it's a grey import | |

| Isn't the SVA test for anything imported 10 years old or less? From what I've read, anything else just needs an MOT & registering | |

| I love R-Chassis Vehicles but it aint gonna happen as much as i would like to. They would have to have 2631 signatures a day since Dec 20(When it started) till Jan 19. But the 89' R32 is now legal! | |
