Sponsorships
Basics:
Time-Trial podium finishes award sponsorship points (SP) you can trade in for sponsorships. Everyone gets one major sponsorship to start off with.
If you'd like to switch between different car manufacturers, I'd suggest either an engine or a tyre sponsorship. If you really like a single brand of car manufacturer, I'd suggest becoming a factory driver to get more budget towards a car to use in Time-Trials.
You will have to show your worth to the sponsors by netting podium times on all of the different Time-Trials. Tracks where you can compete on will be listed > here <.
1st place will net you 5 SP 2nd place will net you 3 SP 3rd place will net you 2 SP 4th and lower will get 1 SP
SP will be counted every Friday. The bonuses earned from that week count for the payday on that same Friday.
Major sponsorships:
For instance tyre manufactures, but you can choose whatever you feel like! Just keep in mind, you can only have one major sponsor. Be thoughtful of which major sponsor you choose, you can only change this once every 3 months. Bonusses from major sponsors are multiplied by two.
A major sponsor will provide you with a car to compete in, the budget they will provide depends on your total SP. Budget will be tiered as followed:
0-30 SP $25.000 ($75.000 if you choose a car manufacturer as your major)
30-60 SP $50.000 ($150.000 if you choose a car manufacturer as your major)
60+ SP $75.000 (225.000 if you choose a car manufacturer as your major)
The budget is to be spent on a car, upgrades are to be spent with your hard earned cash. If you for instance would like to run a 2001 Acura Integra Type-R, which costs $18.900, the extra $6.100 is forfeit. The sponsored car will need to run a livery showing off your sponsors.
If you decide to switch your major sponsorship the car you got for free will be send to the Junkyard where everyone including yourself can bid on it. The car's starting bid will be 40% of what it's worth, any money you spent on the car will not be refunded, but you are able to choose a new sponsor car tiered to the amount of SP and sponsor you chose.
Minor sponsorships:
All supporting manufactures, this could be oil, engine parts, suspension, brakes, anything you can come up with! You can trade in 10 SP for a single minor sponsorship, up to a maximum of 10 minor sponsors. The sponsors provide discounts and increased payout. If you're not happy with a minor sponsor, you can switch one of them every month.
Every 10 SP you will earn a minor sponsorship, but since points are awarded weekly and people compete it's possible that you'll lose progress toward your next minor sponsorship. Once you've earned a minor sponsor and drop below the treshold you will not lose the sponsor you've earned.
As an example let's say you've earned 15 SP by winning three first place spots in the first week. But next week someone beats all three of your times, dropping you 6 SP (three times 2 SP). You will keep your minor sponsorship, but you will need to earn 11 SP to unlock your second minor sponsorship.
Sponsorship categories:
Tyres:
If you're racing or drifting, you're shredding tyres. You need a sponsor to provide you with the means to shred seconds off your time, tyres are the very best way to improve.
Tyre sponsorships give +$1.000 weekly payout and -50% tyre cost. With a major tyre sponsorship you can get tyres for free!
Engine:
Does the track require a higher top speed? Or lots of hilly sections where you need power? Try to net yourself an engine sponsor. Since the engine has more than one way to upgrade, you can have up to three engine sponsors.
Engine sponsorships give +$1.000 weekly payout and -25% engine part cost. With a major engine sponsorship you can get engine parts for 50% off!
Suspension:
Getting everything out of your tyres is very important, no need in wasting your expensive rubber if the car isn't set up right. Suspension can help a lot to fine tune road contact.
Suspension sponsorships give +$1.000 weekly payout and -50% suspension part cost. With a major suspension sponsorship you can get suspension parts for free!
Brakes:
You can carry all the speed you want, but at one time you need to come to a stop. Rusty old drum brakes will make sure you either need to brake for half a kilometer or go on an offroad adventure. Upgrading your brakes will ensure you can stop when you want to. It will also smell a lot better in your car, no one (probably) likes the smell of smoldered brake pads..
Brake sponsorships give +$1.000 weekly payout and -50% brake part cost. With a major brake sponsorship you can get brake parts for free!
Chassis:
Minor tweaks often rely on tuning of the chassis itself, which is kind of weird since it's the largest part of the car. To make sure you can run desirable spring rates and dampening settings, chassis upgrades can help balance your ride. Chassis upgrades include ARB's, chassis reinforcement and weight reduction.
Chassis sponsorships give +$1.000 weekly payout and -25% chassis part cost. With a major chassis sponsorship you can get chassis parts for 50% off!
Car manufacturer:
If you fancy yourself a specific car manufacturer you can try to become their factory driver. Try to choose a brand that has a wide range of cars, or just go for your favourite!
Becoming a factory driver will give +$1.000 weekly payout and -17,5% off dealership prices. A major lifestyle sponsorship will have its bonuses doubled and the sponsored car budget trippled, however this does mean you need to choose a car from the brand you're sponsored by.
Lifestyle:
Everybody likes money. Choosing a lifestyle brand or a favourite restaurant, your grandma's choice of cookies or something completely made up, this sponsorship will net you some extra cash to spend where it matters most; cars.
You can have up to four lifestyle sponsorships. Lifestyle sponsorships give you +$1.500 weekly payout. A major lifestyle sponsorship will have its bonus trippled.
How to participate?:
Keep track of your sponsor points, providing proof with a link to the Time-Trial thread. Wear your sponsor's decals on your Time-Trial car.
The way how you display your sponsors on your car is up to you, but they need to be present. Changing the paintjob of your sponsored car is free of charge.
Just like with keeping an organised bank statement, sponsorship points should also be well documented.
Post a picture of the build you're running. Make sure you show off the tyre compound and that power and weight is present.
Post a picture of the time you set. A picture of the rivals leaderboard would be perfect, but if you couldn't beat your leaderboard time you can post a picture of the time you set while on track.
Type out your gamertag and the time set in this format: "GAMERTAG xx:xx.xxx" This saves me a lot of hassle.

MEXICO HERE WE COME!
The Horizon festival is almost set to go live in Mexico, and so are we! Every week a new track will be released to compete and earn rewards on.
Also, I'm opening this thread for questions and suggestions to go forward with the Sponsorships. Hope to see you all compete and work on your cars in Mexico, I know I'll be!

WE'RE OPEN FOR BUSSINESS!
Some of you have been active on track already, very nice to see! Sponsors are on the lookout, so get your times in to reap the rewards.
When posting a time, please post for which classes you are running, right now there's just A RWD Dirt racing, but S AWD Dirt will be added soon.
An easy format to post a time would be:
State which classes you run for, if multiple. Once more times get posted running multiple classes in a lower powered build will be inefective.
Post a picture of your build Make sure the picture shows the tyre compound and is set to show HP values.
Post a picture of your time Posting a picture when you're not able to beat your set time is a bit fucky in this game, no easy way to show the time. A picture of the normal driving screen will suffice.
Type out the time you set
As an example:

Time (couldn't beat the time I set so it's a bit fucky, sorry):
1:13.432
You can click on the picture for a clearer view.
Sponsorship points will be counted every payday, so next week on the 19th the first points will be handed out.
Will see you on the track, good luck!

I know I posted on FB but I'll post here to open the discussion more, now that I've dug in and read the thread in depth.
Max value of free vehicle for being a factory driver, I believe you suggested $125k. I wondered if that was maybe too high, but then again, it will open up a ton of options, and get people up to speed quickly to the A and S class realm if a manufacturer is chosen for a sponsor. I already bought a cheap starter car but I'm still considering a manufacturer sponsor tbh.
Last question, any $ spent upgrading said factory sponsor car, is that out of your own pocket, or is that build included in the $125k limit if we go that route? Assuming of course you give it all back if you drop the sponsor in 3 months.

I've thought about this overnight and I think that the 125k limit should not include upgrades, while I agree that it would make it more realistic, I think there's no reason not to go for a Major Car Manufacturer sponsor otherwise.
Maybe if we drop it to like 50k (so total build cost, including upgrades) it would be more reasonable?
Another thought would be to have the Car Manufacturer sponsored car be tiered to the total amount of sponsorship points you have. Like, as a first Major sponsor you can choose a car (including upgrades) for 50k, once you secured more points (and thus other sponsors) maybe at 50 points the limit will be 100k and at 75 points total you can choose a car up to 200k?

UPDATE
Car Manufacturer We've decided to go with a tiered approach to the car manufacturer sponsor. From 0-30 total SP (sponsorship points) the manufacturer of your choosing, should you go for a major car manufacturer sponsorship will provide you with a car up to $75.000. This is only to be spend on the base car, so upgrades will be paid out of your own pocket. The upgrades do get discounts you earned with different sponsors, of course.
This also means you have to use the sponsored car in the events.
Once you've reached 30 SP and it's been 3 months (might scale down to 2 months, 3 months is quite a lot I think) you can get a car worth up to $150.000 should you choose to go with another car manufacturer as a major sponsorship. Once you reached 60 FP you've reached the final tier and the manufacturer will sponsor a ride worth up to $225.000.
Whenever you change your major sponsor to something other than a car manufacturer, or if you reached the next tier and are eligible for an upgrade, the old sponsored car will be sent to the Junkyard. Everyone including yourself can bid on the car.
Lifestyle I've also bumped the lifestyle sponsorship payout to +$1.500 instead of +$1.000 because they do not provide an additional bonus.

Do Wheels fall under the same rules as Tire Sponsor?

I'd say wheels fall under lifestyle category. With a minor lifestyle sponsor wheels cost $500 as you get $1.500 extra payout weekly.
BIG UPDATE to the thread, please read, hopefully all child diseases are out of it now and we can play! Please feel free to ask and comment on any unclarities or inconsistancies!
